Addis Ababa City Construction Design Job Jacancy

Addis Ababa, meaning “new flower” in Amharic, was founded in 1886 by Emperor Menelik II. The city was established to serve as the capital of the Ethiopian Empire, which was previously based in the city of Gondar. Menelik II chose the site of Addis Ababa for its central location and natural beauty.

The new capital quickly grew in importance, becoming a center of trade, diplomacy, and culture in the region. Addis Ababa played a significant role in Ethiopia’s resistance against Italian occupation during the First Italo-Ethiopian War in 1896, where Ethiopian forces defeated the invading Italian army.

In the 20th century, Addis Ababa continued to grow and modernize. It became a hub for African independence movements and diplomatic activity. The city also saw significant development, with the construction of modern infrastructure, including the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and the Addis Ababa University.

Today, Addis Ababa is a bustling metropolis with a rich cultural heritage. It is home to important institutions such as the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The city continues to be a vibrant center of Ethiopian culture, politics, and commerce.
